Collected in the spring at prairie chicken leks near Pierre, South Dakota. The Fort Pierre National Grassland, in partnership with local birding groups, establishes blinds from which the public can watch the display. The males inflate their orange throat pouches in an effort to impress the females (similar to sharp-tailed grouse and sage grouse).
